Non-toxic homemade weed killer

The garden is another area where toxic chemicals can be exchanged for natural alternatives, particularly when it comes to killing weeds. Try the following recipes.
Option one
You’ll need:
2 cups white vinegar
½ cup salt
I tsp. dishwashing liquid
1. Combine ingredients in a spray bottle, stirring well so the salt dissolves
2. Spray directly onto weeds, taking care to avoid plants and vegetables which may also be affected by the formulation
Option two
You’ll need:
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
1. Combine ingredients in a spray bottle
2. Spray directly onto weeds, taking care to avoid plants and vegetables which may also be affected by the formulation
For pesky paving weeds
If you’ve got little weeds growing up from between paving stones or on the edge of a pathway, try the following methods.
Option one
You’ll need:
Salt (any kind)
Pour salt between paving cracks or anywhere weeds are popping up. Be aware that salt has a damaging effect on soil and concrete. This method is only for areas where you don’t plan to grow plants again, and care must be taken near paving stones.

Option two
You’ll need:
Boiling water
Pour directly onto weeds growing in paving cracks. This method is not suitable for any areas where desirable plants are growing, as it will kill them too.
